As the name denotes, Kingfishers feed mainly on Fish,
apart from enjoying quick-bites like crustaceans and
large aquatic insects such as
dragonfly larvae.
Expert
hunter / fisher, hovering over the water to detect prey and diving
vertically down to capture fish. When not in active fishing mode,
they have a straight rapid flight, as fast as 32 mph
